Our Australian Shepherds

We got our first Australian Shepherd from a breeder in Arizona in 2006. At the time we were unable to find a local working Aussie line that suited us. We found a litter by the son of the much hailed Twin Oaks Kit Carson who was one of two Aussies (the other was a littermate) to win Supreme National Champion... We have since found several great breeders in New Mexico, but Sunray's High Desert Lazuli (Zuli), has taught us many things about Australian Shepherds. She showed us what a help an Aussie is in the pens, in the pasture and on range where there are no fences. We decided to bring in a male from completely different bloodlines to help Zuli and hopefully to breed to further down the line. We found an exceptional breeder in Texas, Hart II, and soon brought home a very attentive little boy. Hart II's SunStarBuck has been a wonderful addition to the crew. Norma Hart has been breeding for over 30 years and has a wealth of expereince as well as many successful dogs in the worlds of trialling and on working cattle ranches. We are very happy to have one of her boys as our foundation sire.

Before our breeding plans were put in to effect Zuli had an illicit love affair with the neighbor's crossbred sheepdog resulting in a diverse litter of blue mutts. We kept one, a well behaved bobtail female we named Guppy. Gup has become a great herder in her own right and specializes in bunching, driving and breaking up buck fights. Her main interest is in keeping the herd together. Guppy and Bucky have had a few litters together and each pup has brought much love to their new owners, many have added additional pups from the pairing to their household. These 3/4 Australian Shepherds have great intelligence, protectiveness, kindness and are super with small children. They can herd chickens goats, sheep, cows, llamas and even horses. They are well mannered and always make their people smile.

We are planning our first purebred Australian Shepherd litter for this fall. We are very much looking forward to this upcoming litter between Bucky and Zuli.
